I have been using Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W2 Sand for about a year now and it has been my to go foundation in Winter and Summer! I have never gotten any reactions to it and it’s non-comedogenic (phew).
I recently got my hands on the Etude House Double Lasting Foundation in Beige. The name and packaging looks really similar and I’ve heard reviews that it’s a good dupe 🙂
I purchased mine on jolse.com for USD15, which is a fraction of the price of Estee. The Double Wear foundation does not come with a pump, I’m using an old MAC pump (more hygenic hehe)
TOP: Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W2 SAND. It’s a little bit darker and yellow-er than Etude House
BOTTOM: Etude House Double Lasting Foundation in BEIGE
Does not oxidize, true to colour!
The texture and formula is quite different. The Double Wear is liquid-er and dries matte, no sticky touch, does not budge. The Etude House foundation could be a dupe for Too Faced Born This Way foundation instead, which is a little bit thicker and more dewy/hydrating. The ingredients for Too Faced and Etude House are much more similar too!
Coverage wise – both covered my veins and pigmentation really well. Very high coverage with strong pigmentation. I could layer both foundations to get my desired coverage. Both will definitely cover sun spots and scarring.
The Etude House foundation lasted around 7 hours on me at work before it started to cake around my T-zone. It’s pretty normal as my T-zone is hella oily in summer! FYI my workplace is in an air conditioned setting, but I still produce tons of oil haha.
I’ve been using the Etude House foundation for about 2 weeks now, and to my dismay I have broken out quite badly from it (I’m very sensitive to alcohol). I was aware that the foundation had alcohol in it, but still wanted to try it lolol.
My skincare routine has been the same, and as soon as I stopped using the foundation, those little red bumps on my forehead and cheeks started to fade away. Mannn, I was hoping that this foundation would work out for me I’ll just stick to the Big Cover BB cream, easy to use and extremely high coverage.
It might be due to the alcohol content or other ingredients that triggered my skin.. If you do not have sensitive skin, I would recommend this foundation tho as it lasts in the summer heat, if you’re not doing strenuous exercise or anything. For oily skin peeps you’d definitely have to blot.
If not, would recommend Double Wear instead. During drier seasons, I mix it with an illuminating primer to give that fresh, glowy look! Currently obsessing with VDL’s LumiLayer primer and The Face Shop illuminating primer.
Rating: Not a dupe.. Broke me out.. 1/5 for classy packaging!
